Spitz is a treasure trove of culinary delights very near Zurich main station. The menu gives you a short list of starters, mains and deserts which do not surprise by name but by a certain spark on top of what you expect. The choice of wines is solid with the occasional positive surprise. You need to book ahead.

I had a disappointing experience with the coffee here. While the food was okay, the coffee felt like an afterthought. It served from an automatic machine, was overly milky, and the beans lacked depth/quality. More concerning was the hygiene; the server handed us our drinks by gripping the rim of the cup where one's lips touch. Given the small portion size and poor handling, I won't be back for caffeine. The atmosphere reminded me of a canteen and less like Bistro.
