Dinner for two at Mikurya restaurant. Omakase. Traditional Japanese cuisine. In a small room with 7 high bar seats, facing a friendly Japanese chef. A tasting menu with a fixed selection, with possible adaptations for vegetarians. Around 300 euros per person, not including drinks, which were also very expensive. The service was excellent, very courteous and professional. The food was good in parts, but mostly mediocre and imprecise, and in the two main courses simply inedible. The abalone was not fresh, bitter, and tasted almost spoiled. The A5 wagyu slices were cooked well, but served in a traditional sauce that was unbalanced and gave the meat an unpleasant aftertaste. Both dishes were left uneaten. It is unacceptable to serve such failed dishes in a meal of this caliber. The chef checked the abalone, confirmed it was indeed not fresh, and apologized. It is unclear if this was out of politeness. Later, several pieces of nigiri were served with poorly cooked rice—too moist and sour, so the vinegar flavor was overpowering and the rice fell apart in most cases. Very disappointing. One of the white fish used for the nigiri was also not fresh. The dessert had no connection to Japanese cuisine and was very mediocre. Overall, a very disappointing and extremely overpriced meal, with poor value for money considering the expectations and the reality as described. Together with two carafes of sake and two bottles of water, we paid about 1,000 unnecessary euros.

The best use of a conference breakout room ever. What felt like a speakeasy for world class sushi, you're transported to another world for 4 hours of the sublime. Awesome food, service, and what a wonderful evening. Highly recommend the sake pairing as well.
