Atmosphere not what I expected from the menu and the concept. Was expecting something with a bit more taste, the neon pink light and the weird cat decorations don’t make this restaurant feel elevated.
The staff was very friendly and concerned with making our experience good, and we really appreciate that.
The food kept getting better as we went through the menu. Outstanding were all the grilled meats dishes (chicken, beef, eggplant & fish cheeks). Also the tartare and the brusselsprouts surprised us positively. The cheesecake dessert is rich and yummy.
A bit disappointing were the deep fried starters, the beetroot soup, the tuna sachimi, deep friend mushrooms, plain rice noodles and the coconut dessert balls.
Overall it was a nice experience, but nothing out of this world.

My wife and I attended for an anniversary meal and Chef Dan, Dion, and Elle all went above and beyond to make the meal special. We ate at well-known restaurants throughout the week and while all were good, our evening at Gaijin was the absolute best.
I only wish they would open one back in the US.
