Visited this café on a rainy afternoon with my best friend, looking forward to a cozy and relaxing experience. Unfortunately, the customer service fell short of that expectation. The café was not full, and there were unused chairs available. We chose to sit by the window, but the seating arrangement did not provide a practical surface to comfortably place our drinks. I politely asked if we could use two empty chairs to make the space more functional and assured the barista that we would gladly return them if other customers needed them. She lectured that this would mean we were occupying four seats. While I understand that perspective in a busy café, that was not the situation at the time. The request was reasonable and made respectfully, simply to ensure we could enjoy what we had paid for. Hospitality is not only about policies — it is about context, flexibility, and prioritizing guest comfort when possible. When later asked about our drinks, my friend responded politely. I mentioned that I likely would not return. The response was simply “okay,” which reinforced the sense that our experience and future patronage were not of importance. Although an apology followed, it did not feel particularly genuine. Because of this experience, neither my friend nor I will be returning — and we will not be recommending the café to others. Word of mouth and customer retention are built on how valued people feel, and unfortunately, we did not feel that way. _________________________ For clarity, our request was simply to use two unused chairs to create a practical surface for our drinks, as the seating arrangement did not provide one. We clearly stated that we would return the chairs immediately if other guests required them. Before doing so, we asked whether a tray or small dish could be provided to place our drinks on the bench, and we were told none was available. There were no proper surfaces on the bench to place drinks, which is why the request was made. The bench was much higher than the “stools,” so we’d have had to hunch over just to enjoy our coffees. Image of the stool cropped from another customer—this was expected to be the fourth seat, claimed as “occupied,” but we ended up using it as a table along with their white chairs. I was too frustrated in the moment to take my own photos, but honestly, it made the experience uncomfortable and left us really disappointed—it shouldn’t have been this way for a simple cup of coffee. The intention was not to occupy “six seats,” but to comfortably enjoy what we had paid for — ~14 CHF for two small drinks. I understand the importance of managing seating fairly; however, context and discretion are equally important in hospitality, particularly when the café is not at capacity. My review reflects my genuine experience and was shared thoughtfully and logically. As someone familiar with hospitality standards, I am confident these inputs are constructive and reasonable. Your hostess did apologize, which suggests there was some recognition that the situation could have been handled differently. I stand by my review and am confident these inputs will be implemented meaningfully moving forward. Goodbye.

Fantastic. Warm, attractive space and atmosphere. Great selection for coffee, including specialty beans from in and out of country for hand pour and for purchase. Barista was very friendly and conversational. My pour over was delicious.
