  We visited Aachi for lunch and ordered several dishes to share. For starters, we had the cucumber salad and Szechuan soup, followed by crispy battered beef with garlic and chilli and a braised pork belly for our mains. The food arrived extremely quickly. Less than five minutes after ordering, we already had almost all of our dishes. While this may have been due to it being later in the lunch service, it still felt unusually fast. The cucumber salad was very vinegary, and I couldn’t really taste any garlic. I found it hard to finish and wished there had been more balance. The Szechuan soup was my first time trying it, and while it wasn’t unpleasant, it wasn’t something I would order again. My crispy battered beef initially looked promising. The portion was large and felt like good value, and the first few bites were light, airy, and nicely crisp. However, my boyfriend pointed out that there was more batter than meat. As I ate further, the sauce became overwhelmingly sweet, to the point where it was difficult to continue eating. With a lighter hand on the sugar, this dish could have been much better. The braised pork belly was very tender and succulent, but the seasoning was off, it was unfortunately way too salty. The menu is extensive and seems to focus on Northern Chinese cuisine, although the inclusion of Thai curries felt a bit random. There was construction happening next door during our visit, and the noise affected the atmosphere throughout the restaurant, which didn’t help the overall experience, though this is of course temporary and out of the restaurant’s control. Service was great though, they were very helpful and eager to suggest dishes if needed. Overall, while the meal didn’t fully meet our expectations, I do think Aachi has a lot of potential and a wide range of dishes to explore. It may simply have been an off day, and I’d be open to giving it another try ◡̈

  The service is excellent! The food is delicious and the portions are very large! If you are hungry, don't think twice, go there!!!
